Manufactured for urban areas, this device is already in production and is being funded by the US government. It can be controlled remotely, has a camera and a microphone. If it lands on you, it can take a DNA sample or deposit an RFID tracking nanotechnology on your skin. Equipped with wings and a battery that lasts for over 5 days, it can fly through a window, attach itself to your clothes until you take it home.
Recently, one major area of research being undertaken is in the scientific/military field is the development of micro air vehicles (MAVs), tiny flying objects intended to go places that cannot be (safely) reached by humans or other types of equipment. A major application of this invention is in gathering of intelligence (through the surreptitious use of cameras, microphones, or other types of sensors); among the more extreme applications posited for such devices is that they may eventually be used as “swarm weapons” which could be launched en masse against enemy forces.
What do you think about this invention. Are you more excited for the advancement in technology or just worried at how much of our privacy we are loosing daily? Let me know what you think.
